Empowering Youth through Art

Art club is a space for our youth to learn how to express themselves. This past year, the group experimented with various mediums of art – paint, recycled materials, charcoal, photography, and more. While working on these various artworks, the art club decided to host CasaSito's first ever art exhibit, "Expresión" (Expression). For most of  our scholars, it was the first time they created art and publicly displayed their work. Many feared their talent would not shine through, but they were encouraged that the most important thing was for them to love their own work.

While we wanted to display this unique collection of artwork, the goal of the exhibit was to empower our youth. On opening night, the art club shared the stories behind their artwork. Every scholar sold one of their original pieces! The event was a huge success and we would like to thank everyone who attended. Our youth are now confident in their art and are excited to continue creating new pieces.

2018 Scholars

This year we are supporting 50 scholars in Sacatepéquez, 52  scholars in Alta Verapaz, and 12 scholars in Quiché. To kick-off the new year, we held  our annual celebrations in Antigua, Cobán, and Primavera del Ixcán. With fun icebreakers and engaging team-building activities, our scholars, parents, donors, and friends were able to interact with one another and collectively set goals for the year. With such unforgettable experiences, everyone left excited and hopeful for what 2018 has to bring.
