TEACHER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

"While education is the journey of the learner, a knowledgeable guide still makes a big difference."

Investing in teachers to strengthen school communities

Established in 2020, this one-year program in Sacatepéquez is built on a simple premise: investing in teachers creates a ripple effect across their students and schools. Through debate training, life coaching, nonviolent communication training, and peer learning, teachers build critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills, while strengthening emotional and mental wellbeing.

CasaSito Móvil

Psychosocial workshops for children, young people, teachers, and parents

Piloted in 2023, CasaSito Móvil brings wellbeing workshops directly into schools where teachers from the Teacher Development Program work.

Workshops respond to each school's specific needs and cover topics such as:

  • Emotional wellbeing and resilience
  • Healthy relationships and communication
  • Conflict management and bullying prevention
  • Pedagogical tools and strategies for teachers

The addition of a psychologist to the team in 2025 has allowed the expansion of workshops - and to launch an annual youth fair, held in partnership with public and NGO youth organizations. Through interactive activities, children and young people explore emotional wellbeing and mental health, ask questions, and learn about support services available to them.

What Teachers Say

Debate Training
"The training I received in debate helps me express my ideas better and defend my opinions with clear arguments. I've also learned the importance of listening to and respecting others' points of view, even when I don't agree. Debate strengthens my ability to analyze issues, think before speaking, and communicate with more confidence. I believe this experience matters because it builds critical thinking and confidence when speaking in front of others."
- Marcos, 2026 Program

Trust Circles
"What I can share is that, by listening to everyone, I realized that almost all of us teachers face the same realities - in our classrooms and in our health."

Paola, 2026 Program

Monthly Life Coaching
"Coaching was a liberating space. I was able to connect with myself and see clearly everything I needed to let go of."  - Rosa

Public Speaking Workshop

"What he said about making eye contact with the audience is true - I just look straight at my students, and they understand the message."
- Jenifer, 2026 Program
